50 Machine Investment

Rockliffe extends partnership

Rockliffe in County Durham has invested in 50 new machines as part of a five-year extension to its partnership with Toro, Reesink Turfcare and Lloyd Ltd, taking the relationship to 18 years.

The investment supports a major redevelopment of the resort’s 18-hole, Hawtree-designed golf course, including a programme of course improvements and the reshaping of 78 bunkers. The fleet has grown from 42 to 50 machines.

New equipment includes three Toro Reelmaster 5010-H hybrid mowers, two Multi Pro sprayers equipped with GeoLink precision application technology, and eight Workman UTX utility vehicles.

The resort has also introduced the manufacturer’s Intelli360 connected fleet management platform, making it one of the first UK golf courses to benefit from real-time machinery visibility. The system is designed to help the greenkeeping team monitor machine use, allocate equipment more effectively and make better-informed fleet management decisions.

Golf course manager Jon Wyer said, “Having that visibility will make it easier to understand how individual machines are being used, helping us manage the fleet more effectively and make better-informed decisions.”

The GeoLink technology uses GPS, precision mapping and individual nozzle control to improve spraying accuracy and efficiency. Machine-to-machine communication between the two sprayers is also intended to streamline applications and provide a clearer record of treated areas.

Wyer said access to this information would benefit both operational efficiency and environmental management.

The extended partnership brings together equipment, precision technology and dealer support as Rockliffe continues its course improvement programme.
