TWO NEW HALL OF FAME ENTRANTS

Two new entrants were inducted into the GMA’s Hall of Fame during SALTEX.

Manchester City’s Roy Rigby, who has been involved in the industry for over 45 years, from a local authority maintaining bowling greens to managing thirteen club sites around the globe for one of the biggest football clubs in the world was the first inductee.

Keith Boyce, head groundsman at Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Leeds Rugby for 30 years, also joined Roy as an inductee into the Hall of Fame.

The GMA said of Roy Rigby who is retiring, "Throughout his career, Roy has always embraced new techniques and sought to develop teams of highly skill grounds staff which have won numerous awards over many years. The industry has changed significantly since Roy first entered it at 16 years old, but his approachable style and professionalism throughout his career ensures that he will be sorely missed."

Speaking of Keith Boyce, the GMA said, "Keith has consistently been an inspiration to many. Having championed the GMA’s Yorkshire branch for many years, his GMA training courses at Headingley regularly attracted audiences of over 200. He has always found time to offer advice or solutions to a problem.  Keith continues to this day to produce similarly high-quality pitches at the New Rover Cricket Club in Leeds."
